Exquisite Threading FAQ's

What is Threading?

Threading is a state-of-the-art hair removal technique that has been used for centuries. Facial hair is removed quickly and accurately using a cotton double stranded thread that twists around individual hairs, then pulls them out from the roots creating a very clean, precise hairline.

Does it hurt?

You may feel a slight pinching or scraping sensation. Most clients tell us that threading is easier than plucking or waxing. Threading removes one clean line of hair all at once making it much quicker and easier to shape the brow.

How does it differ from waxing?

Waxing removes a layer of skin which can leave the skin susceptible to sun damage. Threading is the least invasive method of facial hair removal and can target individual hairs to maintain the precise shape and smoothness desired. For those with sensitive skin, waxing may cause burns and swelling and at times, permanent marking or scars.

What are the advantages of threading vs. waxing?

  • Threading achieves the most accurate eyebrow shape with cleaner, straighter lines.
  • Hair does not grow back as fast since the hair is removed from the follicle.
  • Unlike waxing, no chemicals are used so it’s better for sensitive skin, especially those on Retin-A and Accutane.
  • It rarely produces rashes or discoloration since it has little to no contact with skin. This helps reduce acne breakouts and rashes.
  • Threading can target individual hairs.
  • Hair only needs to grow just above the skin for threading.
  • Threading can pick up fine hairs above the skin.
  • It’s very effective at preventing in-grown hairs.

Is it expensive?

Threading is relatively inexpensive. There are no hidden costs since threading uses a cotton thread only unlike other forms of hair removal which may have costly chemicals and equipment associated with them.

How long does threading take?

A simple eyebrow takes 5-10 minutes. The upper lip takes 5 minutes and a full face thread takes about 20-30 minutes.

What areas of the body can be threaded?

  • Chin
  • Eyebrows
  • Forehead
  • Full Face
  • Neck
  • Sideburns and sides
  • Upper Lips.

How long does it last?

It varies based on the individual rate of hair growth. We recommend threading every 3-4 weeks for best results.
